Dial One Johnson Plumbing, Cooling & Heating – 7 Factors to Consider Before Toilet Installation

Posted on: November 16, 2016

Toilet installation should be your top concern if you are currently experiencing major issues with your own toilet. You may be dealing with frequent drain clogs, overflows, and a leaking toilet. Allowing these problems to persist will only hurt your plumbing system’s efficiency and cost you more utility bills. But as urgent as a new toilet may be in this situation, you need to make sure you are installing the right unit or else it can be a costly mistake. The average of a standard toilet today is around $384, with some models ranging up to $800. Installing the wrong one may take hundreds of dollars out of your savings, and that’s not all. An improperly-sized toilet may bring you even more spending in terms of utility bills, especially if it begins to clog or leak. You may even need to seek toilet replacement far sooner than you realize. All of these problems can snowball into a huge amount of stress that will actively detract from how you function in your home every day. If you want to make sure you are getting your money’s worth, think before you install, and calling a licensed plumber for service will certainly help as well.

Why You Need to Call Dial One Johnson Plumbing, Cooling & Heating Right Now

And, fortunately, you can find that licensed plumber at Dial One Johnson Plumbing, Cooling & Heating. In fact, we have a whole team of plumbers ready to assist with your plumbing needs. They will always go the extra mile to ensure you have a long-lasting, highly-efficient toilet in your home. They will work with you side-by-side to ensure you are getting a toilet worth every dollar. Once you have the right toilet in your home, you will be able to enjoy a higher level of convenience in your home, and even save money on utility bills. Most importantly, your family will be able to experience better convenience around the house. When you consider just how often everyone in your household uses a toilet on a daily basis, it will be comforting to know you installed a toilet that can meet a wide range of needs.  A new, highly-efficient toilet is just one of the many plumbing upgrades you can make to establish a better peace of mind.

What Should You Consider Before A Toilet Installation?

If you want to ensure you get the perfect toilet for your home, you need to consider these 7 factors before you finalize your purchase:

  1. Seat Height: The seat height needs to be comfortable so you can sit down on the bowl and be able to fully bend your knees. Though the average height of a standard toilet is around 14.5 inches, you need to consider the needs of everyone else in your home. Some toilet seats are handicap-rated while others try to accommodate for greater height ranges.
  2. Utility Bills: Your bathroom fixtures use up a considerable amount of water in your home, with toilets taking up 25 to 30 gallons alone. If you want a new toilet, you may want to consider downgrading in size. For example, if you reduce toilet size down to a 1.28 tank, you can save over 2,300 gallons.
  3. Bowl Shape: Many homeowners find oval shaped toilet bowl to be more comfortable since they offer more inches than round counterparts. However, please keep in mind that you need to accommodate for those extra inches in your bathroom when considering the physical space for it.
  4. Physical Space: In addition to bowl shape, you need to consider how much space you will need for your toilet in general, as most building codes require 15 inches from center to wall and at least two feet in front. If you already have limited distance in your bathroom, this will be fine. But you may also need to consider how much elbow room you will need to use the toilet comfortably.
  5. One Piece or Two: Most toilets, and certainly the toilets you’re most familiar with, two-piece type, with the tank rests on the bowl portion and is tightened in place. These are usually easy to find replacement parts for at local hardware stores. One-piece units are generally more expensive, but look much sleeker and easier to clean.
  6. Flushing Efficiency: You need a toilet with effective and efficient flushing abilities so you are not wasting money on water bills. There are two types of flushing: pressure and gravity-fed. Gravity-fed toilets have a smaller installation cost but will not be able to push waste as effectively. Though pressure toilets cost more, they also use less water and prove much easier to clean.
  7. Rebates & Warranties: Please ask the team at Dial One Johnson Plumbing, Cooling & Heating about manufacturer rebates and warranty options. After all, when you already spending so much money to get a new toilet in your home, you need to know how you can stay protected and have some money go back into your pocket. Some warranties will be able to cover you for years and ensure you are not spending so much on emergency plumbing repairs.

Review of Dial One Johnson Plumbing

Called for a weekend AC repair knowing it would be slightly more expensive. The tech came within the hour and got the repair done. Repair cost was very reasonable and repair was done within an hour if him arriving. I generally get concerned with unnecessary repairs, especially with weekend jobs, but not the case with Dial One. Will always use them.

Excellent service and follow-up!

Review of Dial One Johnson Plumbing

James was very knowledgeable and friendly. He replaced my water heater within a short period of time and came back to follow-up on the installation. Also Deborah, in the office, did a great job keeping in contact with me to let me know when James was on his way and following up with me to make sure I was satisfied. Definitely recommended!
